What happens next
Someone comes out and looks at the tree. They will walk the access route, check what sits under the crown, look at the ground and the boundaries, and tell you honestly whether the tree needs to come out or whether pruning will fix the problem for less money. You get a written quote with the scope spelled out — green waste, stump depth, machinery — so it can be compared properly against anyone else's.
If the tree sits on a verge, on common property, or on a lot with a vegetation overlay, that gets raised at the quote rather than after the fact. The permits and council rules page covers what those checks involve.
Useful things to send with an enquiry
- The street address, and which tree if there are several.
- A photo from the street and one from the base looking up.
- The width of the narrowest gate or gap into the work area.
- Anything under or beside the tree: pool, shed, glasshouse, septic, retaining wall.
- Whether there are wires anywhere near it.
- Whether you want the mulch and timber kept.
