What this site is, and what it is not

A plain statement of the referral arrangement and the limits of the information here.

This is a referral website

Cairns Tree Care operates this website as a referral service. We publish information about tree work in Far North Queensland and pass enquiries to independent tree contractors operating in the region. We do not carry out tree removal, pruning, stump grinding or any other tree work ourselves, and we do not employ the people who do.

Any work you arrange is a contract between you and that contractor. Scope, price, timing, workmanship, insurance, licensing and liability are all matters between you and them.

We do not verify contractors on your behalf

We do not inspect, audit or verify the licensing, registration, certification, qualifications, insurance or competence of contractors introduced through this site. We expect contractors to represent those things accurately, but we do not check them and we make no representation about them.

Before any work starts you should ask the contractor directly for evidence of their qualifications, their public liability insurance and, where relevant, their workers' compensation cover, and confirm those details with the contractor and with the relevant issuing or licensing body. Get the scope and price in writing. This is ordinary due diligence and it is your responsibility.

Information here is general

Everything published on this site — species notes, pruning guidance, storm preparation, cost factors, and summaries of council and Queensland requirements — is general information about how tree work typically runs in this region. It is not a site-specific assessment of your tree, not legal advice, and not a substitute for a qualified arborist's report or for the current requirements of Cairns Regional Council or any other authority.

Planning schemes, overlays, vegetation legislation and electrical safety rules change. Anything on the permits and council rules page should be treated as a starting point for your own enquiries, not as confirmation of what applies to your property. Where a decision matters, confirm it with council or with a suitably qualified professional.

While we try to keep content accurate and current, errors and omissions are possible and neither we nor any contractor can guarantee that every statement is complete or up to date.

Safety

Tree work is dangerous. Storm-damaged trees in particular are under load in ways that are not visible and release that load unpredictably. Nothing on this site is an instruction to undertake tree work yourself, and no description here is detailed enough to make an unqualified person competent to do it.

Never work near powerlines. Queensland law imposes exclusion zones around live conductors and only crews specifically accredited for that work may enter them. If a tree is touching or near a power line, contact Ergon Energy and keep everyone clear. See the storm and emergency page for what to do while you wait.

No guarantee of outcome

We do not guarantee that a contractor will be available, that a quote will be provided within any timeframe, that any particular price will be offered, or that any particular contractor will be the one who contacts you. Availability changes constantly, and after a major weather event across the Far North it changes dramatically.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss, damage, cost or expense arising from use of this site, from reliance on its content, or from work performed by any contractor introduced through it. Nothing here excludes any right or guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Links to third-party sites, including government and council resources, are provided for convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or accuracy.
